35th Space Symposium report

VANTECH has attended 35th Space Symposium in Colorado Springs, Colorado, during April 8th~11th.

Space symposium was first held in 1984. At that time, there were not as much participants as now, but it has now became the largest aerospace symposium.

Since last year, we have been challenging to the field of aerospace. This is our 2nd time attending the Space Symposium.

Our first attendance last year was not very successful.
On the second day, the wind was strong that we had to cancel our exhibition, since our area was a temporary hall.

But our second attendace this year however, the weather was fine.
and we were able to attend the 4 days safely.

Our booth design this year is as below.

Each year during this symposium, an event so as called "Japan Hour" is held.
"Japan Hour" is the Japan public relation event, to introduce Japanese traditional cultures to the visitors.
Japanese 'Sake' is served to the visitors, a 'taiko'(Japanese drum) performance is presented, and some novelty was given to visitors.
Many visitors have enjoyed the service.

Recent valentine's day trend in Japan

Happy belated valentine's day!!

It is not related to our business, but today I would like to talk about Japanese Valentine's day.

In Japan, there is a custom of Japanese women giving chocolate to men.
There are 2 types of chocolate that women give.
The chocolate called "honmei-choco" is given to the loved one.
And secondly, the chocolate so called "giri-choco" (meaning Courtesy Chocolate) is expected to be given to their male colleague.

But now, this custom is on the decrease.

Some companies are banning these custom in their workplace.
Because some people say it can worsen the relationship in the office. People will worry about who recieved how many chocolate and who didn't, or it can be percieved that the price of the chocolate value how much the women care about the man.

The new trend is "Jibun-choco" (meaning chocolate for yourself).
And the number of women buying "Jibun-choco" are increasing.
Women buy chocolate, especially fancy ones as a reward for themselves.

Today I explained about 3 types of chocolate trend in Japan.
1."Honmei-choco", 2."Giri-choco", and 3."Jibun-choco".

When I  live in Japan, these custom and trend seems to be common.
But I hear from people outside of Japan that it is a uniqe trend only in Japan.
